| canon | The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
| character name | Link
| character age | 17
| gem | Day
| reason | Being the Hero chosen by the Goddess, Link's all about the light and opposing the darkness. The gem would have reminded him of Zelda, and his connection to her having brought him this far along in his journeys.
| wings | Translucent, a bright white at the base that fades into an iridescent purple at the tips. The wings are similar in shape to a hornet's wings. If one looks carefully at the pattern of the veins and cells, they should be able to see the shape of a flower stem brimming with buds from base to tip-- the shape of his Soul Vessel.
| personality | Quiet, gentle, and quite often with his head literally in the clouds, Link isn't exactly someone that you'd immediately peg as 'legendary hero' material. A great deal of his time is spent snoozing rather than slaying monsters, and he prefers it that way- but perhaps that's an indicator of his peace-loving nature. We are introduced to him as a (somewhat lazy and carefree...) student at Skyloft's Knight Academy, furthering the idea that he has dedicated himself to peace and the protection of others long before discovering the destiny that had been laid out for him.
While he does enjoy his downtime, it's not to say that he's not knight material. In fact, Link would be a prodigious student if he'd only apply himself-- he's a natural flier on his Crimson Loftwing, having been able to take to the skies with it as a young boy without even needing instructions. He picks up skills quickly, often on the fly, and is an excellent puzzle-solver. That being said, he's also got a bit of a one-track mind, sometimes missing the details of a conversation and needing them explained further-- this goes double for social situations, by virtue of the poor guy just being shy overall...
For the majority of the time Link is a kind friend, understanding and even a bit (okay, a lot) of a pushover... but he proves himself time and again more than willing and capable to fight for what he believes in. He is fiercely loyal and protective of his friends, and in a serious situation will go to great lengths to help them-- whether it's as simple a task as delivering a bottle of soup or a draft of stamina potion to someone in need, or barreling through a literal army of monsters to come to Zelda's rescue-- as is to be expected of the Chosen Hero of the Goddess. Through his adventures, both in the Sky, on the Surface and across time itself, Link has really come into his own as a hero. Even so, he still finds the most enjoyment out of the simpler pleasures in life-- good friends, good food, and a good wind at his back...
| background | Links ARE fine. Homina homina.
| timeline | Post-game. It's implied that he decided to stay with Zelda after their adventures had ended, buuut... well. These things happen.
| abilities | As mentioned before: He's been training to become a Knight, so despite the frequent naps and lazing around Link's quite physically fit and capable. He does get winded from time to time, but after extreme things like sprinting and wall-climbing and wall-runningand then leaping over that one fence at the bottom of the stairs and into the clouds BOY CALM DOWN His bravery is also an asset, carrying Link through challenges most would balk at out of fear.
Link's main weapon is the sword, complimented by a sturdy shield. He retains all of the techniques he learned at the Knight Academy (such as the Spin Attack, Jump Attack and Fatal Blow) but as the Master Sword now slumbers back home, he is unable to perform his signature Skyward Strike.

[No selfies here, just a (rather shaky, slightly tilted to the leftsomeone forgot to recalibrate ) view of some teeny-tiny mushrooms growing on the outside of the tree. ...Well, they would be teeny-tiny to a normal person, but even these little caps are still the size of Link's head. From behind the piece of amber, Link's voice is soft and happy.]
Ta-da-da-daaa~...
I haven't seen these ones before... should I bring them back inside? I wonder if they're edible.
[...Priorities, people.]

Though Link had likely seen more of the Surface world than any other hailing from Skyloft, there was still so much of it left to explore. The forest alone seemed to stretch on just as endlessly as the clouds in the Sky, and though he'd promised Zelda he wouldn't stray too far this time, but one thing lead to another, he'd lost sight of his Loftwing, and then there was a brilliant flash of light...
Which, really, didn't even surprise the boy at this point. A spark of light and magic was his once-partner's go-to method of appearing before him, and he rather welcomed the spectacle. This time, though, was not accompanied by the strangely soothing call of 'Master', nor the ever-graceful presence of a familiar friend. Link was alone, somehow inside when he was sure just a moment ago he was out. When did this massive tree get here? It certainly wasn't the one he was familiar with, even if it did seem vaguely similar. Momentarily at a loss, he found himself again wishing that the sword spirit were here. Surely she'd know what to do with this!
...Though his heart ached a little bit in remembrance, he didn't dwell on it long. The room was straightforward enough, though the message on the rune stone was a bit vague itself. The pack atop it is a welcome gift, as well-- Link had never been one to turn down free supplies, however strange they might have been. The sheet of amber is new. He'd gotten used to seeing in amber in little polished chunks, relics he didn't understand but had a use for picking up all the same. The stone-- ordinary looking enough, and maybe it would come in handy for something down the line. And the tunic...
It was a bit of a surprise, that. He wondered, though not at the unusally large size of the leaves, but at the fact that it seemed made for him somehow. What was it with green tunics, anyway? Link pondered the thought a moment, smiling to himself in quiet amusement before moving along. There was still more to explore, clearly...
He spent a little too much time staring into the pillar of light-- however warm and comforting it might be. He made a mental note to show Zelda once he'd figured out the way home again-- she would appreciate something like this, wouldn't she?-- and, after another minute or two, tore himself away from the sight... if only because there was a nagging feeling in the back of his mind to go and look at the rest of the room, everything else this place had to offer. Particularly... those gemstones. Link's body seemed to move on its own-- or at least, faster than his brain did. Something about that huge, yellow stone, this towering chamber brimming with nature, that light... it was almost like that time from before...
Only, again, he was alone.
Like he had long ago, Link pressed his hands to the surface of the gemstone, as if he'd see her in it, however far away he was from her. Squinting into the stone, he felt an odd tingling at his back, and that's when he stepped away-- hardly dazed when part of the gem came away in his hand, at least until he noticed the shimmering wings fluttering from his back. What in the world...?
Now he really wished Zelda were here. Or Fi, impossibly. They'd know what to do... wouldn't they?
